Student Visa (500)

This visa allows you to stay in Australia and study full time at an Australian recognised educational institution.

To be eligible, you must have:

Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)
You must get the CoE before applying for this visa by enrolling in an Australian institute.
OSHC
You must provide Overseas Student Health Insurance for the duration of your study.
English Language Proficiency
You must demonstrate English proficiency if required.

Genuineness of Student Test Statement (GST)

From 23 March 2024, the Genuineness of Student Test (GST) Requirement replaces the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement for student visa applications, and the GST verifies that the applicant genuinely intends to study in Australia and is likely to acquire skills that Australia requires from overseas students.

An 18-year-old international student must have someone who is eligible to travel with them to Australia while studying. The person who travels with the student has to be either a parent or legal guardian, relative or family member and be nominated by the parent or guardian to accompany the student.
